Give yourself a time limit on how long you plan to continue to put up with his using you. Let him know, nicely, that you would appreciate him kicking in on the rent since he gets $1200 a month. Sit down with him and ask him where he sees himself, and your relationship in 5 years or 10 years, when he thinks he will graduate and what his plan is then. If he can't give you an acceptable answer, nicely explain to him that you do have a plan and it doesn't include supporting him forever.
