How does one find their passion in a career?

Does anyone have a job they would do even if they were independently wealthy? If so, how did you know you had passion for it? How can a maturing adult find a passion that has eluded him for 33 years? I have many interests, like chess, golf, surfing... but none of those will pay the bills.

It seems you like sport..... and what you are asking for is to combine work, hobbies and sport....

become a sport teacher, willingness to become one of the best will pay the bill. Passion for anything you do will pay the bill, but than you have to put twice as much effort in it.

My friend succeeded, he surfs and does triathlon and next to that he is a fitness trainer and spinning teacher.

I just love my job.

You gotta really have love for it. Sadly, money is such an essential ingredient for life.(If it wasn't, I would love to wait tables all my life..)

Some hobbies or interests have more money-making opportunities than others. The hobbies you have can be turned into teaching careers. Otherwise you can choose a career supporting the sport like importing chess sets, selling surf equipment, etc. Doing that enables you to be indirectly involved in the sport.

Anyhow, there's gotta be something more you'll like... Maybe you just haven't found it yet. Keep exploring and researching. You might build a new interest and a new career! Good luck!

If you are worried about paying the bills then you can't change careers to a job that you would do for free. Those types of jobs take years to get started and more time to start making money. The worse part is that you don't know what you want to do. No, the worse part is I'd like to do the same thing and I know of a few things I'd like to do but I have too many responsibilities to take the risk.
I want to start a job as a coffee delivery service. Make the coffee at home and put it in those pumps that keep the coffee warm and fresh all day. Then deliver them to small offices in the morning. In the afternoon pick up the coffee dispensers and bring iced tea. I wouldn't need much to start up the business and I could do it from home. The problem is I don't have the time.

Be like the rest of us. Suffer through a crappy job so you can afford to have fun later.

Chess (Intelligent)
Golf (Self Motivating)
Surfing (Adventurous)

Seems like you can have just about any job you apply for.
Maybe try teaching, but I'm sure you have a dream job in your head... Think about how you want to spend your day and how you can be at a place you like.
Other then that I'm trying to figure out my destiny. lol
