Blogs or Content websites?

Which do you prefer to own?

If you don't own any or havn't had the experience then which do you prefer to read?

I prefer sites which have been made by the owner or a company and not just someone sticking a template up. I'd rather own (and read) a website which isn't a blog because I just don't like knowing that a site is a blog, it annoys me a bit because I then think that someone has just produced it in a matter of minutes from a template. Also if i'm making a website then I feel more attached to it than if I "make" a blog, I have a blog and it goes quite untouched, I just can't be bothered with it, whereas I update my other site all the time because i'm more attached to it (well this is why I think I update it much more).

I like blogs, as long as the content is interesting. I guess the same goes for websites. Even if it is from a template, as long as they do something fun/useful/interesting with it, I'm okay with it.

I just find that I don't like them because I know how much effort can go into making a website, cause thats what I do. Just most people won't put the effort in and just use a template and slap ads on it to try get them "quick cash" instead of actually creating a good site with good content.

I can't imagine many people have the same view as me, I mean I know people who think making a website just takes a few clicks and thats you so i'm sure they don't really care what a site is like, as long as it has content that interests them.

I think with a design or coding background someone would be more critical because they know the effort thats put in to create a site as you say.

If the actually written content on the site is something special though I wouldnt ignore it or think less of it because of the design or whether it was a blog or site.
For the sites you say which are made for adsense etc well the content is usually pretty crappy anyway
