Having trouble formatting my iPod?

When I connect my iPod to my computer and choose to 'Format' it, there is a message saying that if I proceed then I will lose all my songs. This is fine so I click 'o.k' but then nothing happens. Any ideas what's going on or what else I need to do?

Maybe you have to wait. Sometimes it takes a long time to format it. Depends on the memory.
