How much does it cost to play EverQuest online?

How much money does it cost to play EverQuest online, is there any special equiptment I need to buy and if so how much does it cost? How often do I need to play the game, or do I just play as often as I want?(I'm just looking for something to do in my spare time, as most of my time is spent on school and studying. But the game sounded somewhat interesting and I thought it might be fun to at least try it out.)Links on where to obtain any needed hardware/software would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
yes I know these types of games are addicting, however I am just into these sorts of games as something to do when Instructors don't assign homework, or reading. And to play when I finish doing all the work. I'm just looking for something to do in that .0000000000000000000001% of time I'm not studying or sleeping. Trust me, studying is my priority, and nothing is going to ever change that. I am fully addicted to French already, and it would be difficult for something else to become an addiction.
