it depends if you are interested enough to keep looking through the bad to find good
there are definitely a lot of artists who are not and may not ever be signed but I dont think its always down to their ability
a lot of artists become popular out of pure luck or circumstance
its about getting the breaks and initial exposure
without that no matter how good your sound it will be difficult to fight your way up from the ranks of unsigned
imo of course
