How much has your taste in music changed?
Has you choice of music changed a lot in the past years?
Do you find yourself listening to music you thought only for your parents? I was always quite open with my music tastes so it hasn't been so bad for me but I think some styles of music which I never liked before have creeped in Rockabilly for one ![]()

Much of what I listen to now (when I am alone or working out) is the same as I was listening to 10 years ago, obviously my tastes have evolved some during that time but nothing major has changed.
However, since I have a kiddo in the car now - I listen to much different things but I don't consider that a change per say...more of a necessity! |

Is it actually that there has been such a dramatic change of musical style in the last 30 years or is the music of the last few generations really not so different to what our parents listened too? like listening to hip hop would be compared to the music of the 60s?

And speaking of VAST, he kicks a**!! Well, "touched" by Vast is one of the best anyway, not sure about this new CD ![]() AND he's from Austin! TX USA (where I live now) ![]() ![]() back OT: I used to work with a guy that was about 10 years older than me, he was heavy into Iron Maiden and the like but could not stand most of the stuff I like, Static-X, Godsmack, SOAD, and so forth whereas I like Maiden, Sabbath, on down the line. So I think the older you are (to a point), the more you limit yourself musically (an over generalization perhaps). Case in point: I love the stuff my niece and nephew (18yrs (twice my age)& 15) listen to, much of it I already was listening to before they got into it...their parents on the other hand (again 10 years older than me) NOT EVEN CLOSE - they certainly don't have any Linkin Park (or whatever) kicking around!! My musical taste have changed over the years, but I am back to where I started... I still like the same music that I liked in high school - the "pop metal" hair-bands of the 80's. But I switched over to country for a while. I was a hardcore country fan. I still find it mildly entertaining, but now I'm back to the 80's music.

I think its because its easy to go back and find something you know you will like usually this is the case though sometimes you go back to listen to something you love before and wondered WTH you liked it so much and out of all music I have ever listened to I could never get into country

I used to be very narrow minded on music, then I came to university and started to listen to a lot more different types, so i'm a lot more diverse now which is a good thing. I can't stand people who say that only one genre of music is good and that it is fact. It's opinion, not fact.

like living in a small town you miss out on a lot of experiences you would have if you had travelled same with music but a lot of people think they are happy with the one type of music they listen to until they discover there is a lot more out there
