English subtitles

Anyone ever watch an English speaking movie with the English subtitles on? I've really gotten into the habit of doing that. You, or at least I do, get a lot more out of the movie. You never say "What did he just say" because it's right there on the screen.

I'm weird, I know, but I love it.

that's weird, but wait, you already know that. I've never done that but you know what it's a good idea for some movies that are hard to pick up on some of the lines!

Why just last week we were watching a movie and we uttered those exact same words: "What did he just say"

playing it twice did not help!

well I dunno about subtitles for English movies but I suppose it would be good if the movie had a lot of slang or heavy accents in it

I never used to like movies with subtitles but you get used to it and there are a lot of excellent foreign films you would miss if you didnt try
kinda get used to it and it doesn't detract from the movie

i do that sometimes, but if it is forced on me I don't like it. I always end up reading the movie instead of watching it and that is no good. might as well have gotten a book.

we actually watch most of our movies in our bedroom while the kiddo sleeps ion her room (our living room is right next to her room) ...anyway it's a small DVD home theatre system ,very cheap one - if it's a quiet movie we often have a tough time keeping up with the dialogue b/c it's just not loud enough.

that would be an instance where it might behoove us to turn on the captions!!

I also love having english subtitles as there are some parts of the movie that we cannot grasp and having subtitles just solved the problem.
