Will the disovery of new animal species, visually inspire artists?

700 new marine species have been discovered.

Absolutely. So many world renowned biologists are themselves artists in their documentation of new species, that such a find is enough inspiriation alone. Examples: Charles Darwin and John James Audubon.

Most won't be particularly inspiring because they are visually very similar to known species. Of those 700, perhaps one or two may inspire some art. Maybe 5 if you count the National Geographic photographers.

marine life have been very inspiring to look at in the first place because of their varying colors and exciting shapes and secondly their movements relaxes the observer.Now comes these new species that can add new visual references to the artist/artists.
