Is it true that Neighbours,the tv show, is finishing?

We can only hope and pray. But I would gladly accept another 20 years of Neighbours if we could get rid of Big Brother. Sad really. A nation of people, sitting in houses, watching other people sitting in a house. And that's entertainment ?? God help us all !!

After 4000s shows+ it sure does not sound like it from their website:

But the BBC has today announced that they have formally withdrawn from the current bidding war over Neighbours and the show will air for the last time on the channel in April 2008, but no other channel has currently won the rights to show it after that point. That does not mean it will end completely, maybe until it gets a new network.
