Maybe Dan is angry because he thinks Keith tried to kill him
by setting up the fire. I don't think Dan kill him on purpose,

he was jealous of Keith, he had been ever since Karen and Keith, and when Deb and Keith slept together. his main motive was jealousy.

In an earlier episode that season someone tried to kill Dan by putting drugs to make him pass out in a bottle of Alcohol and sending it to him as a gift(I dont remember the exact details). Then after he had passed out they caught the dealership he was in on fire. Dan obviously did not die because Lucas found him and pulled him out before he was seriously injured. Dan searched and searched for evidence as to who had tried to have him killed and vowed to have vengeance. He mistakenly thought it was Keith(once again....the details are a little fuzzy) and when he had the chance he shot keith. Keith is not the one who tried to kill him though, it was Deb.
