Sure... Blame it on the breath mints!

I also have been to NYC once (seems to be a pattern here...) We went over New Years Eve and did the Times Square thing. Kinda saw Dick Clark & Paul Shaeffer, but they were far away and surrounded by bodyguards. We were there for several days, and we really DID the town. It was tons of fun, but everything was crowded because of the holiday... Too many people, but a great place to visit!
yea I dont think I would be too excited about the museums either
maybe the Guggenheim

we went at the start of December and the city was getting ready for Christmas but I don't remember it being any busier than I expected
great experience though

We went into the front of the Guggenheim. But when we saw the mobs of people in there we left and played all day in Central Park instead...

I've done quite a few museums on trips to Chicago and Washington DC. Finally decided that I am just not a museum person. Maybe an art museum, just so I could say "hey, that's the Mona Lisa" or whatever. But if I'm visiting New York, I'd rather be outside seeing the city, the people, the famous landmarks - not in a museum looking at dinosaur bones...

I've seen that, a few years ago when I was in Paris. Got a pic somewhere of me standing next to it. Although kind of dark because your not allowed to have a flash turned on and the lighting is pretty dim.

yup Im the same
I have been in a few countries and never went on tours or similar
Id much rather just wander around the city/country and sample the people, smells and colours of the place rather than standing in some queue to see something I have probably already seen 20times in photographs before I even arrived
Okay some things are worth seeing, queuing or not but ya know..
