cheap vacation ideas for mom and me?

i'm thinking of an all inclusive in mexico. we kind of want to go to mexico, and dad isnt interested in mexico. so i think it woudl be a good choice. do you think its economical? how long shoudl we stay? 3, 4, 7 days? how long can we stay without getting sick? i'm sure i'll be fine but mom gets sick sorta easily. also do they put chlorine in the pool waters? should i call the individual hotels and ask?
